the 3.1 liter v6 uses the ignition module as the crankshaft sensor and there is no camshaft sensor because it is multi port injected
CKP=Crankshaft Position. CMP=Camshaft Position.

Trouble code P1391 means: Intermittent loss of CMP or CKP what does cmp or ckp stand for

CMP= Cam Shaft Position Sensor.
On my GMC V6 Sierra, the Crankshaft Position sensor ( CKP) is located on the front crank shaft cover, right side. The Camshaft Position sensor (CMP) is located under the rotor in the distrbutor. I have to replace both I think, but don't know until I take a look at both. I suspect the one under the rotor is loose. Truck runs great one day and like bad the next. Henry On a Dodge 3.9L the crank sensor (ckp) is behind the passenger side cylinder head in the top of the bell housing. The cam sensor (cmp) is inside the distributor, under the rotor.
Trouble code P1391 means: Intermittent loss of CMP or CKP
Trouble code P1340 means: CKP/CMP Sensor Signals Out Of Sequence
Trouble code P1309 means: Misfire Monitor Hardware - CMP Misaligned, CKP/CMP Noise, PCM AICE Chip
generally a cmp or a ckp sensor with three wires is a hall effect sensor, voltage, signal, ground.
