LEGO used to produce wooden toys-alphabet blocks, pull-along animals, and other traditional wooden toys. The modern plastic bricks you see today weren't ever produced from wood but instead were created when LEGO changed from making wooden toys to making plastic toys. For a period of time, LEGO sets had wooden boxes and boards though.
