Jews, traditionally, were very wealthy in Germany and across Europe at the time. Hitler knew that he could use hatred to motivate the voters, and the Jews were an easy target. He actually hated them anyway, blaming them for a number of problems he'd had in his life.

Christians were not specifically targeted, Hitler himself claiming, at times, to be one. However, gays, lesbians and gypsies were all sent to the concentration camps. Mentally and physically disabled people were sterilised.
