Since WW2 is considered to have begun on 1 Sept 1939 with the invasion of Poland, this would be the first combat against German air force. The Germans did sent pilots to fly in the Spanish Civil War but they did not fly under German markings.
Section Lt Hieronim Dudwal scored a kill on an He-111 bomber on 1 Sept 1939 while flying a PZL P.11C. Not sure if that was the first one. (See Link) Also on 1 September 1939, Stanisław Skalski,142nd Fighter Squadron, attacked a German Henschel Hs 126 reconnaissance aircraft, which was eventually shot down by Marian Pisarek, and then landed next to it and helped to bandage a crew. He later became an ace. Polish Aces in 1939

It was shot down by Hurricanes from Blue Section, 43 Sqn. Their leader being Peter Townsend, the other pilots being Folkes and Sgt Hallows. It crash landed a mile or two from Whitby Town. Oberserver Peter Leushake and flight mechanic Johann Meyer were killed. Pilot Hermann Wilms and gunner Karl Missy survived although Karl Missy lost his legs through his injuries.
Fighter aircraft are used to shoot down enemy aircraft.
Fighter jets were designed to shoot down enemy aircraft. Because the enemy had fighter jets of their own to protect their aircraft, it was important to make them as fast and maneouverable as possible. It should be noted that the aircraft is only as good as its pilot.
Either by well aimed anti-aircraft fire, or by other aircraft weapons, fighter or bomber.

Fighter planes are designed specifically to shoot down other planes. It was in response to bombers and reconnaissance aircraft that they wanted to prevent from flying over the ground forces. Then there had to be aircraft to fly with the bombers to prevent the enemies fighters from shooting them down.
US pilots flying propeller driven airplanes shot down German experimental jets during the last stages of WWII.
A Heinkel 111 was shot down and the swastica removed from the tail is now in Edinburgh Castle
He achieved the first ever shooting-down of an aircraft by a fighter firing through a tractor propeller. When he accidentally landed behind enemy lines, and did not destroy his airplane, German aircraft engineers then improved the so called interrupter gear system, and gained air superiority during WWI.
No. The F-15 eagle is the only fighter aircraft that is one the most difficult plane to shoot down.
Yes. Difficult, and the aircraft must be at low level, but it has been done.
The F-22 stealth raptor is the top best fighter aircraft because it has it's ability to move into stealth mode and take down all four planes at a time.
Over Germany in 1944, it was all about protecting or shooting down bombers. The U.S. was intent on removing Germany's ability to build more aircraft and destroy it's ability to resupply its troops and machines. Germany found that to be a huge threat and threw fighter aircraft into the air to bring down hundreds upon hundreds of bombers. Not until the P-51 Mustang came along with its long range drop tanks did the bombers finally receive help in staving off attacks from the German fighter planes. Today, fighter aircraft are the fastest, most efficient way to deliver bombs and weapons to countries that need them. Being fast, they get in and back out of the danger zone quickly and only put one or two soldiers (pilots) at risk. However, being high-tech, they are very expensive to acquire, operate, and for training. With its precision weaponry, one fighter aircraft today can do as much damage as it took battleships or battalions of men to accomplish in years past. Operating them from forward air bases or from aircraft carriers mean fighter aircraft can be called up and on station anywhere in the world within a few hours.
