If you're looking to elevate the flavor of your crepes and give them a more professional touch, there are several ingredients you can add to your recipe. Here are a few suggestions:

Vanilla extract: Adding a teaspoon or two of vanilla extract to your crepe batter can give your crepes a subtle but delicious flavor boost.

Lemon zest: Adding a teaspoon of finely grated lemon zest to your batter can give your crepes a fresh, bright flavor.

Orange zest: Similarly, adding a teaspoon of finely grated orange zest to your batter can add a subtle citrus flavor that complements the sweetness of the crepe.

Almond extract: Adding a teaspoon of almond extract to your batter can give your crepes a nutty, slightly sweet flavor that pairs well with fruits and chocolate.

Cinnamon: Adding a pinch of cinnamon to your batter can add warmth and depth to the flavor of your crepes.

Nutella or chocolate spread: Spreading a thin layer of Nutella or another chocolate spread inside your crepes before rolling them up can give your crepes a rich, indulgent flavor.

Fresh fruit: Slicing up some fresh fruit and placing it inside your crepes before rolling them up can add a burst of flavor and texture.

Remember that these additions can alter the texture and cooking time of the crepes, so you may need to adjust the recipe accordingly.

What happens when you leave out vanilla in a recipe?

Leaving out vanilla in a recipe can result in a less complex flavor profile, as vanilla adds warmth and sweetness that enhances other ingredients. In baked goods, it may make the final product taste flat or less appealing. However, the recipe may still succeed without it, depending on the other flavors involved. You can consider substituting with other flavorings like almond extract or citrus zest for a different but pleasing taste.
