check the engine block casting number
On Chevy V8's, there is a serial number stamped into a pad on the block in front of the passenger side head. This serial number can be very helpful trying to id a motor.

That is not an engine block # That # is the fireing order on a Chevy engine. You must have gotten that # off of the intake manifold. Sorry we can't help you.

A small block. It is the first motor squared, by Chevy, meaning it has a 4 inch bore, and 4 inch stroke.
front left drivers side is correct.
It will be on the right side of the block where the head bolts on. with right head on engine the block will stick out a little bit in the front the # will be right there. may have to clean or sand block to read.
Chevy built a 302 in the late sixties. It used a 327 block with a 283 crank.
