Mayor Anton Cermack was shot on February 15th, 1933. The shooter, Giuseppe ZIngara, was trying to kill President-Elect Franklin D. Roosevelt, although he planned to kill any politician that came in range. Mayor Cermack died about a month after the shooting. Carter Harrison, Sr., was murdered in his home 28 October 1893.

Anton Cermak was assassinated in Miami 6 March 1933.
