A violin has many parts. The body is made out of wood which is most often Maple. The fingerboard, chin-rest and pegs are made out of Ebony. The strings themselves can be made out of a type of metal such as copper. I found the following website to be helpful: http://www.madehow.com/Volume-2/Violin.html I hope this information helps!
The main woods are spruce for the top (front) and maple for the back. There is also spruce or willow used for the inside blocks and linings. Tail piece, button and pegs are made out of dense wood, such as ebony, boxwood or rosewood. Fingerboard is made from ebony.
Mainly wood, various woods will be used. Modern days violins have been made from other materials plastic resins, perspex etc.
