The name of the volcano was Mount Vesuvius.
mount unzen is deadly as it is a active volcano
Pretty much everything about a volcano is deadly, but especially the ash, dust, and smoke that can suffocate you, and the extreme heat. I'm not saying that the lava itself isn't deadly, but there are other things about a volcano that can kill you. My advice: stay away from them!
Mt Vesuvius has erupted many times. The most famous eruption was on the 24th of August A.D. 79. This was when the entire town of Pompeii was covered by deadly gases and ash. It took the lives of many people that couldn't escape from the path of the deadly mountain. It was unknown until that day that the mountain was infact a volcano.
