The 1995 thru 1999 have either a 5-speed manual ISUZUtransaxle or a 4-speed automatic overdrive ISUZU transaxle, while 2000 and later have either a 5-speed manual GETRAG transaxle or the 4-speed automatic overdrive GETRAG tranaxle. There is info on these tranny's out there. You should "Google" these keywords for that info.
yes i but a 2001 2.4 in a 1997 z24
manual transmissions don't have transmission oil !!!
i'm pretty sure from a 95-99 sunfire gt/z24/grand am gt will work cause i know my 2000 z24 is diff than a 97 tranny
The Z24 has overdrive, the base models are 3 speed autos
it is located on the transmission just inboard of where the passenger side drive axle enters the transaxle
No
If it's the Hex type bolts I'm thinking of, which are the ones on my 2001 z24, it would be a 3/8.
you have to go from under the car on the drivers side. there is a dip stick/fill hole
a fuse in the fuse box, look in the car manual for the position.
Use Dextron II transmission fluid in it or Dextron IIE don't try to use anything else you will regret it if you do. Transmission fluids are manufacturer/transmission specific specific. If you use the wrong type or kind you could ruin the transmission permanently especially and older transmission like yours.Look in your owners manual or on the dipstick, or call a local GM shop to know for sure.
Top of transmission, below the air filter box. It should be a red twist off cap. There is no dipstick, but a plug that you remove to check fluid level,it is underneeth, close by the oil plug but on the transmission.
On my '97 z24 4-speed automatic overdrive you can expect 200,000+ and on my other '97 z24 auto. it had 110,000 on it when I bought it with a burnt clutch problem. But it was haulin' around two big fat girls....go figure.
