First off, there's Gala, one of the most widely-grown apple varieties, with a sweet pleasant flavor, and good keeping qualities. Then one of the most famous ones is McIntosh, a crisp, red apple with a bright white flesh, which is refreshing. Then there's Red and Golden Delicious apples. Red Delicious is known for its bright red color. A Golden Delicious looks somewhat like a Granny Smith but with a paler skin and less tart flesh..There many, many kinds of apples, seemingly too many to count!
McIntosh I did a science fair project on oxidation in apples. I first used red delicious apples, but they hardly browned. I then did my experiment over with McIntosh apples, which browned much more.

I did an experiment with 4 different types of apples. They were Royal Gala, Red Delicious, Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples. If you cut the apples into quarters the Royal Gala apple goes brown in 2 hours and 5 minutes, the Red Delicious apples go brown in 4 hours and 20 minutes and the Pink Lady apples go brown in 6 hours and 29 minutes. Granny Simth takes 6 and a half hours.

I am guessing it is the CA golden poppy. They are our state flower and are one of the early Spring flowers out.
