I'll break it down into categories
cosmetic stuff such as
*different colored strings
the company DR is the leading designer of these they're about 11$ a pack though but red, black , blue ..ect
*new knobs to adjust the sound of your guitar or on the tuners
on the tuners the technical term is buttons which is stupid but there are lots out there made of exotic woods and other materials. You can get other knobs for your guitar to adjust the volume or tone made of metal to exotic woods as well. Some really make or break the guitar they come in skull designs to awful stuff like 12 gauge shotgun shells.
*different colored hardware (parts)
I've made thousands of dollars off of this one! You buy a guitar but it's always the well .. what if the tuners and so forth where black. You could have say an all black guitar or whatever with the right accessories
*inlay decals
you know the dots on guitar necks? yeah in Japan to Mexico they have companies that make decals for guitar necks that you put over those boring dots
the next reason is upgrades
*better tuners
the biggest / best investment I have played 100$ Guitars that can barely hold tune , so when I put these on the guitar the tuning stability went from a week to 4 weeks.
*pickups
those little things under the strings people who know almost nothing about guitars go nuts for changing pickups assuming you'll get a better sound this is only 20% of your sound and beginners shouldn't bother doing this until they have played for 2 or 3 years
*better parts = better sound
if you got a guitar that the strings don't ring out long enough a simple change with parts to brass , steel , titanium or graphite is worth a look into. These parts offer anything from more volume to say better string bends or string life
The first electric guitar was made by Rickenbacker in 1931. It was a hollow body acoustic. While one of the first "modern" solid body electric guitars was made by Les Paul.
acoustic guitars are made of wood and electric ones are made of plastic
Sure you can but, it will not sound near as good as if you use an amp made just for acoustic guitars. Electric guitar amps all have distortion even if it is set and sounds perfectly clean to your ears....distortion is not an acoustic guitars friend. If you dont believe me go to a guitar store and plug in an electric acoustic into each amp...you will see what I mean.
you'll never see a floyd rose or whammy bar system for that matter on an acoustic , or say electric guitar pickups that are designed specifically for guitars. stoptail pieces for tuneomatics on say les paul guitars locking nuts for floyd roses knobs right on the face of the guitar like an electric on cheap acoustic guitars I've seen them made without trussrods which shocked me
Ovation specializes in finely made acoustic and electric guitars. Electric varieties have many different bowl styles and contours. The acoustic varieties use a number of fine woods like maple and solid cedar.
*an acoustic guitar
Mahar Guitars are guitars that are are made in India/Pakistan. They are inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. Finish quality is poor. They are sometimes given away as prizes at fairs and carnivals. They come in acoustic and electric models
Gretsch acoustic electric in various colors. Gibson electric. Olson classical and some special made acoustic and electric guitars.
A true acoustic guitar in terms of building is more sophisticated , it is larger too. It has less access to higher frets for most models and are made out of different woods usually for the body. It has no electronics unless you get an "Electric acoustic" like say an Ovation or something like a Fender. They are much , much louder I would not recommend them for apartment buildings especially if you're a beginner. The acoustic is hollow as well. the electric guitar is easier to make , usually it's one piece of mahogany , alder or whatever, smaller in size and thinner. There are more frets , the electronics on them you'll be able to spot a mile away. Without the electronics plugged in it's essentially a fancy acoustic guitar. They are much quieter without an amplifier which is to say excellent to learn on and great for any situation.
almost everything: the shape and look the volume difference without an amplifier on an electric is staggering usually electric guitars have thinner necks (esp , jackson , bc rich , ibanez..ect) electric guitars have pickups placed under the strings which is easily identifiable electric guitars are heavier as it's more wood acoustic guitars are hollow made from glued together pieces of wood electric guitars you can adjust the string height and set intonation sound wise it all depends on what two guitars you're comparing so there's no easy answer
All guitars create sound by the vibration of strings under tension. The pitch of the sound is a function of the string thickness, density, length and tension. Acoustic guitars amplify the string vibrations by coupling the vibrations mechanically to a hollow box. Electric guitars amplify the string vibrations by coupling the vibrations magnetically to a coil of wire to produce electicity which is passed to an electric amplifier and loudspeaker. Electric guitars must use strings made of metals with magnetic properties (e.g. Steel), while acoustic guitars may use strings made of non-magnetic materials (e.g. Nylon).
A cheap brand of acoustic bass guitars is Cheap Love. They are considered cheap because they are made for beginners, are of okay quality and are inexpensive.
