Anywhere in the range of a 32-34 will get you accepted to the greatest and most prestigious Catholic university in the world.
Notre Dame's 2014 25th-75th percentile ACT Composite Scores are 31-34, meaning 25% of students scored 31 or lower on the ACT Composite Score, and 75% of students scored 34 or lower (i.e. 25% of students scored 34 or higher).
A score on 16 on an ACT is a rather low score. However, many state universities may allow admission. Also, almost all community colleges will accept students with that score.
Notre Dame is a highly selective school with a tough admissions policy. There are no minimum requirements for admissions but the middle 50% of the ACT scores are between 32 and 34. The middle 50% of the SAT scores are between 1380 and 1500, middle 50% of class rank are between 1% and 5% of the applicants high school graduating class. These statistics mean that 25% of the class at Notre Dame score above these statistics and 25% are below them. Also, accepted students typically have strong records of extracurricular activities and leadership positions in their school.
