Perhaps the biggest advantage on the side of the colonists was the appointment of George Washington as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army. He was a master at hit and run tactics. The rebels were fighting a defensive war, which is easier than an offensive war. They simply had to hold out to win. The rebels knew the area in which they were fighting so could hide from the enemy and then strike. The british wore bright uniforms and marched in neat rows .Their uniforms were easy to see . The British were never able to control the countryside during the war, only the major cities and seaports. The war was unpopular in Great Britain, forcing the king to hire professional soldiers to help fight in America, the Hessians. Many in Parliament supported the colonial claims against the King and Parliament. The British had to send supplies and support 3,000 miles, while the Americans could get supplies and equipment, usually, close by. The Americans received foreign aid from France, Holland, and Spain.

Explain the aduatages and disaduantages of the continental army intheur of the British army?

The continental army were on their homefront so they had more of a will to fight. It is easier to fight a defensive war rather than fighting an offensive war where you are on someone elses home court. The continental army also had an advantage because the british had to ship supplies from over seas while the continental army had their supplies right from their home. I am pretty sure the British had a powerful Navy.
