They are spaying cats/kittens earlier these days than in days gone by. The last kitten I had spayed and declawed she was only a couple of months old. They no longer are under the belief that dogs or cats need to go through a heat cycle before spaying anymore. I think they now feel that the younger they are the less traumatic the surgeries are on them. But each vet may have a different opinion, so I would call a few in your area and ask what their procedures are.
