As late as possible would be ideal but kids pick these things up and the main thing isn't if they know them but if they use them. If they are too young to know when to not use them they should not know them.
As soon as they do learn them, or ask a parent about them, the best strategy is to say "That's a word some people use to mean .........., but it isn't a nice word and I'd really like it if you don't use it." Being honest about it will take some of the buzz off the words.
