The Kokoda Campaign stopped the Japanese from capturing Port Moresby and using it as a base. Japan's later defeat removed Japanese control of South East Asia, China and East Asia, but this opened up the way for the sprea of communism through China, Korea and Indo-china and its menace of expansion and takeover of the entire region to the north of Australia.
