A LONG time ago, buddy.
The Emancipation Proclamation was a speech given by Lincoln to inform the public that the Civil War and slavery would end soon. It gave those who opposed slavery hope and it gave the war a purpose again. The 13th amendment constitutionally eradicated all forms of slavery in the United States.
The 18th Amendment banned alcohol from 1920-1933.
Yes, the fourteenth amendment legalized slavery.
The Thirteenth Amendment, which was passed in 1865. The Emancipation Proclamation which went into effect on January 1, 1863, only outlawed slavery in states that were engaged in rebellion against the Union government. Thus before the adoption of this amendment, slavery continued to be legal in slave states that did not succeed, such as Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky, Missouri, and the western part of Virginia which had broken away from Virginia and formed the new state of West Virginia.
Slavery was banned by the Constitution in 1865 by the Thirteenth Amendment.

.....slavery IS banned......
Various countries have banned slavery at different times. Some notable examples include the United Kingdom in 1833, the United States with the 13th Amendment in 1865, and Brazil in 1888. However, despite these legal bans, forms of modern slavery still exist around the world.
