Best would depend on intended use. Federal makes good 30-06 ammo. Soft point for hunting, FMJ for target use.
If your barrel is marked .300 Savage then you can shoot .300 Savage ammunition by any manufacturer. I do not know of a "300 Savage Winchester Magnum".
Whichever one gives the best results. You have to experiment with different powders. All weapons will exhibit a preference for different loads.

depends on the use. Hunting? paper or home protection? Federal Winchester or Remington make ammo for this. There are surplus ammo you can find at a lower price them commercial hunting or match ammo. Make sure the surplus ammo does not have corrosive primers.

proably a Stevens 308 or 3006 you can buy a new one in poteau ok for 279 plus tax and they are real tack drivers though they will need a trigger job for real precion work.next would be a savage about the same deal
Today I shot my new Savage .308 and used Federal 7.62X51 FMJ ammo, grouping nicely at 100 yards. I went to Remington Core-Lokt .308 rounds and both my dad and I had a hard time keeping tight groupings. From what I hear a fair number of guns have some preference. I just haven't found the right round for deer hunting yet, as the FMJ simply will not do. I also await an answer to this question.
