These animals cannot live in Australia simply because it is too hot for them. The animals are as follows (not all of them of course): Polar bear; Artic fox; Artic rabbit, hedgehog; grizzly bear and giant panda.

  • Dogs
  • Cats
  • Birds - Selected species from New Zealand only
  • Horses - AQIS approved countries only
  • Rabbits - - New Zealand only

To bring cats and dogs to Australia, they must meet all of the AQIS import conditions prior to export. This is to minimise the risk of exotic diseases being introduced into Australia. Australia is free from many animal-related diseases found in other parts of the world.

No other pets can be imported to Australia. These include such animals as chincillas, fish, ferrets, quinea pigs, hamsters, lizards, mice, snakes, Spiders, turtles and exotic creatures. (such as lemur or monkey)

Hope this is helpful
