There are many different antibiotics that can be administered to cats, many of which are very similar to those prescribed for humans. However, the formulation and doseage is very different, so these medications must be prescribed by a veterinarian for the specific animal and infection.

It is not safe to use any medicine on a cat without veterinary advice; things that are harmless to humans can kill a cat, because of the differences in metabolism.

That said, there are antibiotic medicines and creams that are safe for cats. Please check with your vet for details.

Is doxycycline good for a cat bite?

If the cat bite is infected such as inflamed or swelling is present, then you need to take your cat into your Veterinarian. He or she will know the best type of antibiotic to put your cat on. It may have turned into an abscess where it needs to be opened up and flushed out and a penrose drain put in to keep it opened and draining. This type of antibiotic is not one of choice.

Is antibiotic spray safe for cats?

Unless it is medicine given to you by a vet, then no. Human medicine is made for humans. Cats are much smaller than humans, so giving a cat human medicine can easily lead to an overdose which can ultimately kill the cat. If your cat needs treatment, take it to a vet where they can prescribe medicine that is safe to use on your cat.
