I'm serious when I say that corporate greed environment degradation are 2 of the primary consequences of free enterprise. We have seen in the last 10 years, a huge gap between the rich and the middle class. The upper 2% of taxpayers, own over half of the country now. George Bush and the Republicans have made sure that the super rich should be given all the taxcuts as possible while the rest of us have seen our wages stagnate and our taxes go up! That helps explain the economic mess we are in now. Corporations have always for the most part been very hostile to enviornmental laws and regulations. Most Republicans in the congress would love to see the EPA defunded! The oil and chemical companies continue to damage our planet and profit from huge subsidies from the government! Makes no sense! Democratic Socialist governments in Europe have a great track record in protecting the environment and protecting the interests of the middle class and taxing the rich! Wish we had that here!
