These people come together as part of a whole society developing industry and production. Whitman's attitude toward Americans is uplifting and positive. He exalts Americans and the hard labor they perform and sees it as a promising land where each person is unique (line 8 and 9) in the poem. He's humanist so he studies about human (positively most of the time). Each person is important in society. Each person is needed for the various trades that make the country run smoothly. Without a skilled person in every job needed, the other fields may suffer. Women and men are equal. I like how Whitman expresses his feelings and attitudes toward women. Women's jobs are as important as men, without women, men won't complete their jobs and needed. This poem also stands for American individualism. Whitman's title does not mean that America is singing a song, he meant that every sound from each job in the labor, together making music and become a song and celebrating.
