User Avatar
Using the term performing forces usually refers to singers and vocal powers of a piece. In this case, the performing voices are usually the standard: SATB or Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. If one is speaking very generally, however, this term can be loosely applied to any instrument partaking in the performance of said piece which may have strings, brass, keyboard, timpani and more.

What genre does Adele sing?

User Avatar
Adele mostly sings soul. Generally, her genre is Pop/Soul. Adele calls it "Heartbroken Soul". She has music which crosses boundaries though, like Cold Shoulder (Hip-Hop as Adele puts it) and Lovesong (Spanish guitar). That's why I love Adele, she's willing to experiment.

What parts of the body do you use when you sing?

User Avatar
Simply put, you use your entire body when you sing. Just like a violin, trumpet, or other similar instrument, the entire body helps to form its sound. Similarly, our bodies are the places that the sound resonates. There are certain parts of the body that are used more, but the whole body is essential. The sound you produce begins with air that you intake in your lungs, and space is made in your lungs for that air by your diaphragm contracting and pushing your intestines and stomach down. You then use your vocal cords as they vibrate from the air that is passed out of your lungs. Then of course, you couldn't sing without the use of everything in your mouth-tongue, soft palate, lips, etc. This is because singing not only produces notes but also words. Your voice/body is the only instrument that can do this. There is much more that your body does while singing, but those are probably some of the basics that one should focus on.
