Mary Queen of Scots was 6 days old when her father died and she was crowned 9 months later.

As Mary was still a child when she inherited the throne, Scotland was ruled by regents until she became an adult.

The french King Henry ll proposed to unite France to Scotland by marrying little Mary to his 3 year old son, the Dauphin François.

With her marriage in place, 5 year old Mary was sent to France to spend the next 13 years.
