The rooms are as tiny as yours, and the districts are sad, bleak, sometimes quite shabby, even decayed in impoverished neighbourhoods. We also have houses - those built in Bucharest during the late 1800s and early 1900s are of French inspiration, but some are built in a typical neo-Romanian style. The traditional rural architecture used to be a treasure, a gem - but we don;t value the past, we demolish happily and we build modern, ugly monstrosities and we paint them magenta of all colours.
