well you ant a little bit of everything so you are as ready for any situation. so some band-aids a splint, gauge pads ( of varying size) presser wraps, triangular bandage, CPR mask. one essential you must allays have is latex gloves, make sure you have a lot. also some good things to have are a flashlight, blanket and "aspirin" ( only aspirin, its got a chemical called Asilic acid which can help with cardiovascular problems ie. cardiac arrest or angina attacks)

these are some of the basics, each kit will vary depending on where you are and what it would bee needed for

Bandages of all sizes and shapes and butterfly bandages.

Eye cup to remove eye debris.

Tweezers to remove splinters and debris from wound.

Alcohol swabs.

Betadine swabs.

Thermometer.

Burn ointment for simple burns.

Q-tips for cleaning wounds.

I add a tick remover tool since it is so hard to get them out without one.

Insect sting ointment

Aspirin, Tylenol, Advil

Hydrocortisone ointment

Antibacterial ointment

Caladryl is nice but I find there are better products for poison ivy.

Tourniquet

gauze pads

Tongue depressors are a good idea when examining a kid

a plastic ziploc bag for teeth or even chopped off fingers....sorry if gross

ice pack is helpful too

You can assemble your own first aid kit cheaply if you assemble it over time or you can get commercial/residential first aid kit. I have both kinds.

I keep latex and latex free gloves in the kit too - in large and small sizes. There are also shields you can buy to do CPR.
