The theory of fashion development trends is based on the idea that fashion evolves in cycles, with styles from the past reemerging in new ways. This theory suggests that trends are influenced by historical events, social changes, and cultural shifts. By studying these patterns, fashion researchers and designers can predict future trends and create innovative interpretations of classic styles.
Development theory is a body of social science theories that aim to explain how and why societies progress and change over time. These theories often focus on economic, social, and political factors that influence development outcomes in different countries or regions. Development theory helps to understand the complexities of development processes, such as poverty reduction, social equality, and sustainable growth.

Some key theories in development studies include modernization theory, dependency theory, and world systems theory. Modernization theory posits that all societies progress through similar stages of development, while dependency theory emphasizes the unequal distribution of power and resources between nations. World systems theory examines how countries are interconnected within a global economic system, with core nations exploiting peripheral nations for resources and labor.
The theory you are referring to is likely Erikson's theory of psychosocial development, which posits that individuals go through eight stages of development, with each stage presenting a crisis or conflict that must be resolved. Erikson believed that successful resolution of these conflicts shapes a person's psychological and emotional growth.

Runways are more for catching the eye of a rich person, and then luring them to their brand (which is usually not as crazy as the runways). Students are usually not as rich, and make their own styles and trends, so really they aren't affected by fashion trends, fashion trends are affected by them.
In the fashion world trends can change in a moment. People like to follow trends of their favorite fashion stars, musician or actors. Leaders of the fashion world know this and give new trends to celebrities to wear then people follow suit.
