The Romans lost only a few wars, but lost quite a number of battles. The wars they lost were mainly against the Persian Empire. They also lost a war in Germany when three Roman legions were routed at the Battle of Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD.

Battles during the US Civil war lasted different lengths of time ranging from a few minutes to as long as a month or longer as with a siege. The war itself with all of its battles lasted for four years between 1861 and 1865.

No battles . I think you are missing the point of the Cold War because there were no battles it was called "Cold". There were a few standoffs and threats, but for the most part it was the western powers looking at the communist dictatorship through the lens of containment.
There would be few competent historians who would think that. It was a war which was a small chapter in the span of world history. Its influence in world political history was very minor - a Persian attempt to impose peace on the eastern Mediterranean failed and the Greek city-states continued on fighting each other as usual.

This is a strange question - what war ended the war! If you mean what battle ended the Persian War which began in 499 BCE against Greek cities, it was the battle of Cyprus in 450 BCE won by the Greek alliance led by Athens, with peace arranged the following year.
If you mean which Southern state, then I would say Florida. Florida contributed about a dozen regiments to the war effort and had only a few battles fought there. There were many Northern states that did not have one battle at all.
In the Civil War, most of the destruction was suffered by the Confederate States because few battles were fought in Union States.
