Well.. I can only speak for this teacher but... My strengths are a determination to follow through and gather all the information my students require. I find as many resources as I can to make sure they learn each activity the best I possibly can help them. I am dedicated to my students' success. Weaknesses.... adjusting things too often so I can make sure those refusing to learn do learn. I spend WAAAAAYYYY too much money on resources that will be needed only in school.
This is actually a personal favorite of mine. I think the best teacher I ever had was only that because he treated me like an equal. He didn't belittle me, or insult my intelligence. He once sat me down and told me that he was disappointed in me. I had received a "B" mark on a test I had been given, and he told me that it was one thing to blow off class, or not do homework, but this was a test of my mental caliber. He told me that I was "Too smart to be screwing this up." I have to admit. I loved it when my teachers cursed, and raved about personal problems it gave me more of a feeling that I was like them. Smart enough to get their problems and be on their level. I wasn't just a child, but I was adult enough to make my own choices about my future so in turn adult enough to hear them swear because that is how adults spoke to each other. A good teacher is strict, but understanding. They are smart enough to teach you, and smart enough as well to learn from you how to do it differently. A girl in one of my classes in third grade used a different method in math to get the answer for a few equations. When this was discovered she was scolded for not obeying the guidelines of how we were being taught. Mr. Myers heard this when we were discussing it in English class and walked across the hall and dragged Mrs. Werner into the hall and yelled at her for being a fool! He then walked back to his class took the work the kid had done and proceeded to teach us her way of doing it. We scored highest math grades in the state that year.
