It could be used for storage. But that wouldn't make sense, since that space is dedicated to your operating systems memory... VMWare uses regular storage space as memory for all its Virtual Machines, 1 TB could equal 8 GB of Ram, and 992 GB of Storage, for example. Hope this helps.
