It doesn't- Batman: Arkham Asylum is set in its own timeline/continuity that stands apart from all other adaptations. It takes a massive amount of inspiration from the 90's Batman the Animated Series, featuring much of the cast and writing talent from that classic "DC Animated Universe" incarnation. There is also heavy thematic styling inspired from the Burton movies, but that applies as a generality to all Batman products released after those anyway. In short, the Arkham games are stand-alone, and can be experienced by themselves without a movie to tie into.
