If an analog oscilloscope is used the actual visual performance of a circuit can be displayed. The limitation is hi frequency. A digital scope will outperform an analog scope in digital however the display is fabricated by hi freq chopping. Another scope is a memory scope whereby a sample is taken for further study of a signal it will not change but slowly decay. ALL OS THESE ARE APPLICATIONS NONE IS BETTER THEN THE OTHER
The cathode ray oscilloscope, CRO or simply scope, is used in many fields of basic and applied research and in electronics development and repair. It is generally the tool of choice for examining signals that change with time on a scale of 1 second to 1 nanosecond.
Oscilloscopes are most commonly used to view the exact wave shape of electrical signals. These devices are used in many industries, from the automotive industry where the ignition system can be analyzed, to measuring the waveform of a heartbeat as an electrocardiogram.
A: Practical uses sometimes? I wander how some of these people operate without. It can be uses for anything that you can possibly think about it.

to get high acceleration for the beam.
A: xray emits from TV, OSCILLOSCOPE and some more instruments due to requirement of hi voltage to see the display
The screen is coated in a thin layer of phosphorous. This glows when bombarded by electrons.
It works on the following principles : (i)thermionic emission (ii)deflection of the electron beam by the electric and magnetic field (iii)fluorescence produced by the electron beam on a fluorescent screen

Why is the speed of the electron beam greater than the speed of light in cathode ray oscilloscope.
The most important part of an oscilloscope is the cathode ray tube.
