most christians are against it and so are Muslims because they believe that we were made in the image of god so if we tried to change this we would be playing god.

Answer:

Two of the pioneers of both heart transplants and artificial heart implants, Dr. Denton Cooley and Dr. Michael DeBakey worked at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and the Methodist Hospital in Houston, respectively. The Episcopal and Methodist churches which support these hospitals have never objected to the development of transplant surgery.

The Catholic, Baptists, Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Seventh-Day Adventist, United Church of Christ and Methodist churches all actively encourage organ and tissue donation.

The Quakers, Pentecostal, Mormon, Mennonite, Greek Orthodox, Church of Christ and Assembly of God churches do not oppose organ donation/transplant and hold that it is a choice best left to the individual.

The Church of Christ Scientist, contrary to popular belief, does not oppose organ donation/transplant. While Christian Scientists normally rely on spiritual rather than medical means of healing, members are free to choose whatever form of medical treatment they desire, including a transplant.

According to the Watch Tower Society, Jehovah's Witnesses are not opposed to organ donation/transplantation, provided that all blood is removed from the organ or tissues before being transplanted.

With regard to Islam, recently, the Shariah Academy of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (representing all Muslim countries), the Grand Ulema Council of Saudi Arabia, the Iranian Religious Authority and the Al-Azhar Academy of Egypt have all called upon Muslims to donate organs for transplantation.

there are mixed views about what Christians believe about transplant surgery. they believe that it can be a good thing - as of the the golden rule (which they follow), treat others how you would want to be treated yourself. as of this statement, if you got attacked by a bear, you would want a transplant surgery.

they also believe that it is gods gift to live - as if he didn't want us to be able to do it, then he should have made it impossible to do so.

Some Christians believe that it is bad, as god made everyone that way for a reason, and that we shouldn't play god. by this statement it is saying that we are able to do what god can also do and we are competing against god himself.

In a lot of cases its a waste of money, money that could be used to help others. But in some cases its OK as you may need it to correct something that has gone wrong. Ultimately, Christians believe believe you should look after your body as much as possible, but the body will die one day - there no stopping that. Its more important to work on who you are as a person and to spread the word rather that spend loads of time, money and effort conforming to social expectations of what a `beautiful` body should look like.
