Colic- One common disease for a horse is called colic. Horses cannot throw-up, so what they do is they get colic. Colic is a stomach ache in the horses intestine. Horses roll when they get colic. Rolling is bad form the horse. If the horse rolls to much, than it can flip there intestine over, and then a horse can die or get surgery to flip the intestine back over. If you see your horse rolling in the pasture or the stall, don't worry about it. Now, if the horse is repeatability doing it, than you need to watch it. If it won't stop, call your vet immediately! Your horse may have colic!

Thrush- Thrush is a hoof disease that horses can get if there feet aren't cared for properly. First, everyday, you have to pick there feet. Ask an adult or experienced horse person to show you where not to pick in the foot. Put on hoof moisturizer after you pick the feet on the inside and out. See the farrier regularly to have the feet checked, trimmed, and cared for. A horse can also get thrush by wet, damp, warm, closed areas. Some symptoms of thrush are that the horses foot has a funky smell to it even when it was washed, picked, and polished. The foot might also be soft and mushy. If you ever ripped bark of a mushy tree or mulch or something like that, than it would have pieces like that. To get rid of thrush, every morning and afternoon, was the foot out with water and special soap, pick the foot super carefully, and polish it with moisturizer. After you have done the above, always have over the counter thrush medicine, and put it in the hoof until your farrier or vet arrives. Keep the horse out of wet mud wood shavings, manure, bedding, and water.

pink eye- Pink eye is the same as people. If the eye doesn't open by itself, than take a warm rag, and dab the eye lightly. Wipe the crust of the eye, than put eye drops in the eye. Keep this horse away from others because it is contagious. If one horse comes down with pink eye and was near other horses the day before, check the other horses to. If the pink eye doesn't start to clear up in approximately five or six days, call your vet!

I hope you and your horses stay healthy and safe!
