Can't speak for ALL dogs, but during a pretty heavy thunderstorm, my border collie jumps into the bathtub if I'm not home. Or if I am, she firmly plants herself in my lap and when I try to get up she latches around my neck like a monkey. She also runs like a bullet from the vacuum cleaner :)
