The church of England was created when people thought the roman catholic church wasn't teaching the ways of The Bible the way the lord wanted, especially Martin Luther (a catholic Priest). He nailed all the things he thought was wrong with the catholic way of teaching on the door of his church, e.g. reading the bible in Latin and encouraging indulgences. Henry VIII was the one to create the official protestant church, the C of E, however on his death bed he still declared himself a catholic. Even though Henry created the church of England, his son Edward made the most changes to the religion. He translated all the bibles into the worshippers language so that everyone could understand the bible, before this it was illegal to translate a bible and if you did you would be executed so it was a big step doing this. He also stripped the churches of colour and riches so that people could concentrate on god.
