The "Pearl Harbor attack" was actually an attack on several US military bases on the Hawaiian island of Oahu in addition to the Pearl Harbor naval base. The first location struck was the Kaneohe Naval Air Station at 0748 hrs. Pearl Harbor was struck starting at 0755 hrs. Simultaneously, the Japanese also struck Hickam Field, Wheeler Air Base & Ford Island. The 1st Wave Strike ended at 0839 hrs. The 2nd Wave strike started at 0854 hrs and ended at 0945 hrs. Other locations struck included Bellows & Haleiwa Air Fields, Ewa Marine Corps Air Station, Camp Malakole, Fort Kamehameha, Fort Shafter, & Schofield Barracks.

The Japanese Cabinet's Declaration of War against the US and the "British Empire" was not until 1530 hrs (Pearl Harbor time). It was not released to the press until about midnight December 7th (Pearl Harbor time).

The first Allied nation to declare war on the Japanese was Canada-on the evening of December 7th. The US Declaration of War was the next day on December 8th, made official at 4:10pm by the Congressional Joint Resolution vote.

On December 11th, the Germans & Italians declared war on the United States, and then the United States declared war on them.
