Frightening and bewildering. They knew it was pretty much unavoidable, and they knew they were likely going to die, but they were helpless to do anything about it. Fearing that it was a punishment from God for being sinful, they resorted to spending their days in prayer and repentance. Most thought it was the end of the world.

well the Bubonic Plague, also known as black death changed life for people since it killed people via transmitting infected fleas and it was a pandemic since it was not only in Europe, but in asia and Africa too. It was so bad that some people hallucinated and danced in circles until they fell to the ground from exhaustion.

It wasn't spread by rats, but by the fleas that lived on the rats.

The nursery rhyme "Ring-a, ring-a rosie" was based on the Black Plague.

The disease still exists today, though fatality is rare.

I guess those a sort of interesting. :)

The plague was a terrible disease that was carried around in the 16th century the most popular plague was the bubonic plague.
