What bicycles are built in the U.S.?

Built can mean different things by the way, they could be 'made' in Taiwan or china and 'assembled' in the states afterwards! While some are, most American brand names are actually made in Taiwan where labour is cheaper and standards are almost as high, in fact alot of bike manufacturers are actually 'built' in the same factory!! . some that are though include... Ellsworth, Titus, Trek (only higher end framesets thousands $$$$)


What does an old haro bike look like?

That's a rather "open-ended" question. Haro began making bicycle frames in and around 1982. The original Haro "Freestyler" frames (a bmx frame specifically modified and adapted to freestyle-style bmx riding) was manufactured by Torker (a USA company). These "Freestyler" frames had a distinctive twin-top tube design that included a gusset under the downtube, machined headtubes and bottom bracket shells. These bikes only came in chrome and included decals that were blue/green/red and chrome. There were many incarnations of framesets, and later complete bikes, beginning in 1984. Too many to list here (and in the interest of time). If you have one of the original American-made framesets, it will have a serial number inside the rear dropouts that begins with a letter "T" (for Torker) and then followed by two more letters, then 4 numbers, and sometimes ending with a letter. Example: TJJ 3489 F (this is a 1983 Haro Freestyler serial number)

There are not many bearing manufacturers in the world that can make Abec 9 as most do not have the equipment and yet you see Abec 9 bearings readily available in skate shops at low prices.
