What bicycles are built in the U.S.?
Built can mean different things by the way, they could be 'made' in Taiwan or china and 'assembled' in the states afterwards! While some are, most American brand names are actually made in Taiwan where labour is cheaper and standards are almost as high, in fact alot of bike manufacturers are actually 'built' in the same factory!! . some that are though include... Ellsworth, Titus, Trek (only higher end framesets thousands $$$$)
What does an old haro bike look like?
That's a rather "open-ended" question. Haro began making bicycle frames in and around 1982. The original Haro "Freestyler" frames (a bmx frame specifically modified and adapted to freestyle-style bmx riding) was manufactured by Torker (a USA company). These "Freestyler" frames had a distinctive twin-top tube design that included a gusset under the downtube, machined headtubes and bottom bracket shells. These bikes only came in chrome and included decals that were blue/green/red and chrome. There were many incarnations of framesets, and later complete bikes, beginning in 1984. Too many to list here (and in the interest of time). If you have one of the original American-made framesets, it will have a serial number inside the rear dropouts that begins with a letter "T" (for Torker) and then followed by two more letters, then 4 numbers, and sometimes ending with a letter. Example: TJJ 3489 F (this is a 1983 Haro Freestyler serial number)

I can give you some guidance on the bearings... What makes a good skate bearing? Abec rating? Lubrication? Seals? Cage/retainer? The answer is all of these. The problem is that some retailers will throw a lot of jargon at you to convince you that their bearings are superior. You have to decide what is relevant but, not being a bearing expert, how are you supposed to know? It could be the one off bicycle that Armstrong road during the final stage of the Tour de France sold at an auction raising money for cancer for $500,000.The bikes used in the Olympics, the Tour and a lot of other races these days are easily $10,000 USD and up, often reaching $20K. But they don't really have price tags as they're not really "sold" to anyone.The most expensive production bicycle might have been American Bicycle Manufacturing's Comp Lite Beryllium which had an MSRP of $26,000 USD. The company went out of business in 2008, three years after the founder died. ABM made some cool bikes. Many with the innovative feature of an "adjustable head tube angle", including some BMX bikes.But, as far as bikes that you and I can go out and buy today that are super expensive, you can find bikes from Specialized, Scott and Colnago that are easily $10,000 USD. A lot of times, the most expensive bicycles are those built from $10,000 framesets and then have about $10K worth of components put on them, but I couldn't really consider these "production" bicycles as every one that's built is a one off.

I don't doubt the quality of bones but as for abec9, abec7 etc, most of them are not abec9, abec7... Abec 9 bearings are used in critical aerospace and instrument applications. There are not many bearing manufacturers in the world that can make Abec 9 as most do not have the equipment and yet you see Abec 9 bearings readily available in skate shops at low prices. A real Abec 9 bearing would cost 30 to 40 US Dollars or more. I leave you to decide!! This alloy makes the steel stronger and harder than cheaper steels.Steel frames can also have "butted" tubes. Butting means that the steel tubing is thicker at the ends than it is in the middle. This makes the tubing liter in the middle where it does not need to be as strong.Aluminum comes after steel when it comes to cost. Magnesium is lighter still, and cheaper than titanium, but more difficult to work with in terms of preventing corrosion.Sometimes, metals are combined to make a frame. For example: A steel rear triangle, which allows for smaller diameter tubing thus better clearances, and an aluminum front triangle for lighter weight. This practice was originally accomplished in the bike industry by using the same thermal compound used on air and space craft to bond dissimilar metals. Full suspension frames can use different materials for the front and rear triangle because the triangles aren't welded together.
