My friend, all of us have a need to be guided by a righteous government, otherwise anarchy would rule among the people. No matter what country there is a government, not one has come up to the standards the people expected of them. Governments cannot satisfy all of the people all of the time, it is impossible.
I am an Australia, and even though I live in a wonderful country, it is my opinion that the US is the greatest of all. Its Constitution (Which some idiots are trying to change) is a God inspired documents, put together by inspired men. It is a sorry state when governments do not adhere to the guide lines set out in the Constitution. Then few governments ever do, self given power seems to surge through all departments of government.
Free speech is one of the most important rights that the US government still allow its people. I am not talking about what you read in newspapers or listen to on news broadcast, for they are governed in what they allow the people to know. So, one of the downfalls of governments is to keep the people happy as far as is possible but KEEP THEM IGNORANT. It is a case of what they do not know will not harm them. Remember it is better to live under an unrighteous government than no government at all.

No. A government is a means to structure a society, but sometimes the people in a government do bad things. As a whole the US government is pretty good. It is up to the citizens to keep tabs on the people they elect to make sure they are doing what they are suppose to be doing.
