a gradient when used in photoshop is a layer that when selected has the option of having a start colour that moves through shades of that colour to another. I.e. starts white and as it moves down the page for instance wll go darker and darker until it black.

∙ 10y agoIt lets you apply a black&white or color gradient to a layer or a selection. You apply the gradient by clicking where you want one side of the gradient to start, then dragging outward from there, and letting go where you want the other side of the gradient to end.
