straw or felt
Here is an easy way to make a cool top hat. What you'll need.... Paper plate (10 in diameter, 5 in radius) sharpie permanent marker. black felt. hot glue gun. long metal wire. cardboard. sharp scissors or a box-cutter. poster board (6in, 8 in, 10in tall). Duct Tape or masking tape
*step 1*. trace your paper plate onto the card board and cut it out with the box-cutter.
*step 2*. put the poster board around your head and add about a centimeter and then tape it with the duct tape. this will be the crown of the hat
*step 3*. put the cardboard onto the poster board and hot glue it on. WARNING... THIS WILL NOT BE THE BRIM OF THE HAT.
*step 4*. put some felt around the edge of the card board and hot glue it on. then you take the plate and trace it on to the felt and cut out. then hot glue that on to the card board piece.
*step 5*. stretch the felt down into the card board hole that you have in it and glue it in.
*step 6*. trace the bottom of the card board (where it opens up) onto the felt. cut into that about 1 and a half in. into it. and then cut tabs into it.
*step 7*. about 3 in. out of the line you traced make a circle out of the wire and duct tape it together.
*step 8* trace that wire about 2 inches out of it and cut it out. take the tabs from that first circle and glue the tabs to the inside of the cardboard.
*step 9* put he brim piece onto the wire and glue on and the top hat should be done.
