I'm no expert but thinking back to my high school science courses I believe that light is changed to oyxgen during the photosynthesis process in plants.
In a cell, both starch and glycogen do not dissolve in water which is why they both are used for storage of energy. Whereas if glucose was stored in a cell as free molecules, the glucose would dissolve and reduce the water potential, not store the glucose.

It basically gets transferred from plant, to animal, and so on. Example: A caterpillar eats a leaf. It gets eaten by a spider, who in turn gets eaten by a bird. The bird gets eaten by a fox, and the fox will eventually die. The decomposer (what ever it or they might be. Like a maggot.) breaks down the fox's carcase which then gives nutrients into the ground. Then, plants can use the nutrients to grow. The cycle then starts over again.
Plants store food as starch.
Animals use their stomach and then enzymes to release the energy stored in food. This energy is formed into high energy compounds like adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
Photosynthesis is the act of trapping the light energy from the sun and turning it into chemical energy in the molecule starch. The energy it traps comes from high energy photons.

Energy is stored in glucose. It is the fuel for respiration

During photosynthesis plants use sunlight and convert simple, low energy molecules(carbondioxide and water) to high energy complex carbohydrates. The bonds that are formed during this conversion stores the energy of sunlight.....

Electrical energy can be stored in a lead acid battery, it can also be stored by pumping water up to a high reservoir, from which it can be released later to produce electricity. Mechanical energy can be stored in a large flywheel. Energy can be stored in elastic material. Thermal energy can be stored in an insulated block of high heat capacity material. Potential gravitational energy can be stored in a reservoir or lake, to be used later for hydro power. Fossil fuels are stores of chemical energy, and uranium is a store of nuclear energy. some examples are a ball,candybar,rubber band,and gasoline
