The Cat Fanciers' Association states that ALL cats, whether pedigree or Household cats, may NOT be declawed. All other cat shows associated with the CFA abide by these same rules. Declawing a cat involves a surgical procedure to amputate all of the cat's toes on a paw back one joint. Compared to humans, this would be like having surgery to remove the ends of all your fingers back one joint so you didn't have any fingernails left.
