∙ 8y agoThe major cities in the Northwest Territories are: Fort Liard, Fort Simpson, Fort Smith, Hay River, Inuvik, Norman Wells, and Yellowknife, which is the territorial capital. The Northwest Territories are known for having a low population because of how cold and isolated they are.

∙ 8y agoYellowknife is the only "city" in the NWT (as we Canucks call it) Yellowknife has a real hospital, policing of 30-35 officers, a 911 service, many hotels and a substantial airport with 2 runways that are open all year round and served by 8-10 airlines.
All the other settlements in NWT are villages or hamlets with pop. below 4,000. Yellowknife has approximately 20,000.
