Great club--saw the kinks and the who, Led Zeppelin and santana--it was Chicago's fillmore; with great, multiple-act shows. Saw Zeppelin, The Who right when "Tommy" came out. Joplin, The Airplane, and a whole bunch of other groups that nobody ever heard of before or since. At five bucks to get it, it sure beat the prices of today. Answer Like every one else who was in Chicago at the time I saw everyone who played there. Nor sure if you remember but I was the guy out front panhandling the $5.00 admission every week. Never missed a show. One of the best parts of the " Electric Theater" (The old name before it was changed to Kinetic Playground after a dispute with a New York Club)was that all the rock stars were very accessible. I remember meeting Frank Zappa and the Mothers, Ritchie Havens, Country Joe and even stood behind Pete Townsend in the toilets. Last weekend I was at a festival here in England that headlined Country Joe and Jimmy Carl Black with the Muffin Men ( A Mothers of Invention tribute band) And relived most of the Kinetic Playground experience. Country Joe had some fond memories of the site. Answer Do you have a complete schedule of who played on which dates since you went to every show? How about any info on the owners or founders?
To expand a bit on the first answer... I also saw The Kinks and The Who perform their rock operas (Arthur and Tommy, respectively) on a double-bill at the Kinetic Playground... again, the Led Zep / Santana double-bill (Oct. 19, 1969). Got our money's worth back then! I suppose the hardwood floor seating arrangement would never fly for such a venue today... unsafe. Do you remember the light-show module suspended from the ceiling... little people stirring brightly colored gels, projected onto surrounding walls?

The word is swing. Golfers swing the golf club. Children play on a swing at the playground.
