Fossil fuels dump CO2 (and other stuff) into the air, and this fuels global climate change, which is happening. The length of time it took fossil fuels to form means we can't renew them with any speed whatsoever. Those are the first two, and they're fairly easy to see. What else? As a last item, the petroleum and automotive industries maneuvered to foster our apetite for fossil fuels, and these business entities worked together to keep us "hooked" on them. Now our thirst for oil and gas to keep the vehicles we use running, which is coupled to the continued efforts of oil and car companies to keep us "high" on petroleum fuels, fetters development of new technologies that would allow us to "get off" fossil fuels and make the earth a better place to live - for both people and other lifeforms as well. Note: No attempt is made nor desire extant to "bash" the oil companies or car makers. Commentary is directed at the simple fact that these two industries are not interested in anything that would put them out of business, or even substantially reduce their revenues. What companies work to downsize themselves or eliminate the need for their products?
