I personally believe that having a jury of our peers is a great aspect of our system. In the criminal law legal system, they have no juries. I also appreciate our tier of courts and the existence of our supreme court. But....I am just a student writing a paper on the same question. The opposite was easier for me, the negative aspects. But after some thought, this is what I came up with.

Positive: It allows for a verdict decided by a group of peers, potentially reducing bias or corruption. It also promotes public trust in the legal system.

Negative: It can be time-consuming and expensive, and there is a risk of jurors being influenced by emotions or incorrect information. Additionally, jury decisions may not always align with legal principles.

Positive- if the defense relies upon community standards more than the definition of the law, a jury can be influenced more than a panel of judges.

- if public emotion is against the defendant

- if media attention is sought for the trial to spread a message.

- easier to corrupt a jury than a panel of judges.

Negative- if the defense relies upon technical legal defenses or complicated explanations a jury is less likely to be influenced by the defense than a panel of judges.
