Proteins are one of the main building blocks of life. A protein is a chain of chemicals known as Amino-Acids. Proteins are one of the heaviest organic matters as they are of high molecular weight.

They serve as enzymes, structural elements, hormones, etc. And are involved in oxygen transport, muscle movement, electron transport and other activities throughout the body and in photosynthesis (in plants).

Their main function however is to grow, repair and replace tissues in your body. Without proteins, a human would not grow, not see, not hear, not do anything possibly including living.
